It's one of those days... you just don't feel like role playing a kitty, or maybe you haven't role played in so long you want to have a bit of practice before heading onto the main boards, where character interactions actually do something. Perhaps you want to make a sort of alternate "what if" thread to something that just happened in the main boards. Whatever the case, if you're itching for a role play and can't take it onto the main boards, make a thread here.

Ain't it awesome when there are forum-wide plots and stuff? Well, plots aren't always just done with pre-existing characters; sometimes we need to create... a plot device. Not just any plot device, mind you. A fun, character-driven plot device. That's where viewers like you awesome creative people like you come into the mix. We've thought up the plot, so who will, for example, role play the humans that are coming in and abducting cats? And more importantly, how will that be role played out? What are the finer details that you'll add in and we can't foresee? This is the beauty of the forum-wide plot: the general idea is already thought out, but the end result and what happens during the plot is not set in stone.

Now, do you want your character to meet someone else? Don't you want some character development for that stuffy character you have? Bordering Crashingwaves and Shadowtrees, Ruinplace is located on a cliff by the ocean, a part of the same cliff that makes up part of Crashingwaves territory. The two section of the cliff, however, are divided by a stone wall that was left by humans long ago and now serves as a boundary, though both groups in the past have attempted to cross the boundary and seize more of the cliff. The air is always windy, but the cats are well-sheltered from the relentless wind in the countless abandoned human nests that dot the area. Unlike the other cats, the cats of Ruinplace do not make their camp in burrows or caverns; rather, they live inside a sizable human nest that is in better condition than the ones around it. The majority of the ruins are little more than stones and planks of wood vaguely resembling their original shape, now, but the Ruinplace camp is relatively whole. There are holes and such in the floor and ceiling, though it's a much better alternative to sleeping out in the open cliff area. The Ruinplace section of the cliff is somewhat different than the area in Crashingwaves. The grass is much shorter, for one thing, and more birds make their nests around the area, taking advantage of the shelter the leftover ruins offer from the wind. In addition, there are some caves and ledges to be found on the cliff's face, but due to the difficulty of getting back up once going back down there, only the most experienced of rangers are advised to go.

The only human remnant aside from the camp that isn't destroyed is the "Skytower"; a colossal white tower that seems to touch the sky. At one point, there was a strange glow that emitted from the very peak of the tower, but it is long gone and only stories older than the most elderly of cats tell of it. This tower is the site of worship for the cats of Ruinplace; it is believed that if one prays atop this tower, the cats of the sky will hear.

In the northeast, colossal trees rise up out of the fertile soil and cover the sky with their leafy branches, cloaking the land below them in eternal shade. The cats of Shadowtrees live in this aptly-named forest, and though how fertile the land is might seem strange at first glance, it is quite easily explained by the abundancy of water in the area. The "source of water", a lake further northeast and well out of Shadowtrees territory, branches out into several rivers, all of which course through Shadowtrees before leaving the territory and going to Sunnysands and Ruinplace. However, prey is not always as abundant as water is; in the past, Shadowtrees has had problems with loners coming in and overhunting the area. Still, there is usually enough to eat and there's rarely a shortage of herbs needed for healing illnesses, but Shadowtrees cats continue to fiercely fight off any loners that intrude on their territory. "Every bit of land underneath the trees is ours; it is not free hunting ground for rogues" is oft-spoken in Shadowtrees. It's true; no other territory has nearly as many trees as that of the area in the northeast.

There is one tree in Shadowtrees, however, that seems to have a majesty all its own; while it seems like the other trees in the territory are special simply because of how rare they are outside of Shadowtrees, this one tree sits in the very center of the territory, and is respected above all other trees by the cats. This is the holy tree Yggdrasil, said to have grown an entirely new forest when Shadowtrees was reduced to a scorched wasteland due to a massive fire. Not even the prey animals will make their nests too close to this sacred tree, perhaps because the cats of Shadowtrees will chase out any that do and the prey has since learned that they cannot burrow there without being attacked. There is a calm of sorts in the clearing where Yggdrasil is — a peaceful silence that is only broken by the soft rustling of leaves. It's no wonder that Shadowtrees seeks to keep th

Sub-boards: Shadowtrees Camp, The Glade of Yggdrasil

The scorching desert of the southeast is home to none other than the Sunnysands cats. Grainy sand covers the land; very few plants can grow here, and they are tiny brown shrubs that seem so dry and brittle, the smallest breeze could snap them in two. A large, dull stone carved with many scratches from cats past is surrounded by such shrubs. This is the Sunrock, the traditional place to worship and pray to the Sun, though for all its grandeur and the reverent manner Sunnysands goes about treating it, it is as plain as any rock could be. The river in the northern section of the territory brings some much-needed life and color to the area, however. Green plants hug the riverbanks, which is where the sages of Sunnysands find an abundant source of herbs to tend to the sick and wounded. Not only that, but it's a prime hunting spot, too. Animals flock to the only source of water in the sunny territory, and it's only a matter of patiently waiting to catch some food. The occasional fish also swims in the river, but the inherent fear of water in Sunnysands leads to them ignoring the fish, for the most part. A few daring pages have attempted to fish them out, but such attempts are typically scorned. "Leave fishing for Crashingwaves," an ancient will often scoff at an ambitious page.

The strangest part of Sunnysands territory — even stranger than the river in the north — is by far the massive crater in the center. This crater houses the cats themselves; they sleep in the shade supplied by the ledges and tiny caverns they have dug out over the years in the walls. Though plenty of Sunnysands lore has explanations for how this crater came to be, it's quite a mystery as to where it came from. Smaller craters are around the larger one as well, but they are far too small for more than two cats and aren't used by Sunnysands on a frequent basis, though they make a point to chase out any loners they find living in there.

A sprawling highway, given various names by the cats, serves as a boundary for the groups. Due to its inherently dangerous nature, what with the constant cars darting back and forth on it, very few attempt to cross it, even in the name of invading another territory. Fortunately, or unfortunately, depending on one's point of view, there are tunnels that were implemented long ago and now have become the only easy-access to another territory. The river that has its source somewhere beyond Shadowtrees also snakes its way through these tunnels, making them none too ideal to travel through for cats who dislike getting wet. It divides into a fork somewhere in Shadowtrees territory; one branch goes into the Sunnysands tunnel and continues through to the Sunnysands-Crashingwaves tunnel, where it meets up with the other branch of the river. This branch, however, went right through the Shadowtrees-Crashingwaves tunnel. Though the river does not go through Ruinplace, the cats have their "Floodnest" to supply them with water.

The only exception to the general rule of "the highway divides the territory" is the border between Crashingwaves and Ruinplace; while it's agreed upon that the beach belongs to Crashingwaves, there have been numerous debates in the past about how much of the cliff above the beach Ruinplace can have. The current boundary is a crumbling brick wall, but there's no telling when one group might decided to push past it and seize more land.
